Mr. Joseph P. Antocci Leominster - Joseph P. Antocci, 88, of Leominster, died April 15, 2012 at home, after an illness. He was born in Fitchburg, MA, August 9, 1923, the son of Gaetano and Sebastiana (Pellegrino) Antocci, Mr. Antocci worked for the Department of Public Works, Water Department Division of the City of Leominster. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving as a Radarman, Second Class. He served on the USS Louisville, and the USS Leyte, between Dec. 10, 1940 and August 2, 1946. Mr. Antocci received the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Medal (9 stars), Philippine Liberation Medal (2 stars), American Defense Medal (1 star), and the Good Conduct Medal.
Joseph was a member of St. Anna's Parish, Leominster Art Association, and the U.S.S. Louisville Association; Cruiser Association.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna (Perla) Antocci, of Leominster; three sons, Joseph D. Antocci and his wife Ann, of Leominster, David P. Antocci and his wife Mary of Charlton, and Robert R. Antocci and his wife Carla of Leominster; three sisters, Frances Santangelo and Mary Riggins both of Leominster, and Josephine Yapchian of Fitchburg. He also leaves his twelve grandchildren: Lauren Antocci, Joseph Antocci, Sarah Antocci, David Antocci, Gina Antocci, Lana Antocci, Julia Antocci, Kara Chandonnet, Craig Antocci, Casey Antocci, Colby Mazzafferro, and Michael Despo, and five great-grandchildren: Alexander Antocci, Jacob Antocci, Ivy Antocci, Ava Mazzaferro and Jackson Mazzaferro. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Paul Antocci of Fitchburg and Carmelo Antocci of Leominster.
Funeral Information
His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster, MA with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 199 Lancaster St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and Wednesday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.
