Walter R. Nutting

Leominster - Our family is grieving the loss of a wonderful man.  Walter Richard (Noah) Nutting passed away on March 13, 2017 from complications due to the cancer he had been fighting for the better part of a year.  He was born in Framingham on Nov. 30, 1943.  He is survived by his wife Barbara (Mess) Nutting and his son Richard A. Nutting, a daughter, Tracy Towne and a son Robert Nutting.  He is also survived by his two beloved grandsons Zuryiah Norton and Chayton Nutting; nephew Bob Nutting and family, nephew Mark Nutting and family; nephew Aaron Chisholm and family, niece Abbie Kimemiah and her son Preston, niece Amy and her husband Connor Reeve and many cousins.  He was predeceased by his parents Fannie Elizabeth (Dow) and Everett Warren Nutting, his sister Donna (Nutting) Chisholm and his brother, George Nutting, as well as a nephew Timothy Nutting.

He was a US Navy Veteran having served time during the Vietnam War era.  One of Noah's passions was cooking and he spent much time making his oversized pots of marinara sauce and "Won't Tell 18" BBQ sauce to freeze, as well as adding recipes from multiple sources into his laptop.  He cherished his family and entertaining the grandbabies who adored the silly songs grandpa would sing them.  He loved his country and bluegrass music.  Noah was a gymnast at Framingham High School.  Ricky followed in his footsteps and Noah loved being at the gym watching meets and especially working in the concession stand and also the concession stand at Ricky's baseball games.  He retired from Wayland Police/Fire Department a few years back after a 30+ year career as a 911 communications dispatcher, a job he took much pride in, having been on the team that searched the the missing Sarah Pryor.  In the distant past, he had been a Boy Scout leader of a special needs pack and had been in a marching band playing drums in many Natick parades.  He was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Leominster Sportsman's Club.  Also for the better part of 30+ years, he was a square dance caller all over New England, calling at the sunrise dance for the New England Convention for many of those years and teaching many many classes over the years.  His favorite classes to teach were beginners.  He was a member of the Tri-State Caller's Association.  He also taught round dancing with his wife Barbara.  He also recently began supporting Greyhound Friends rescue shelter at Meet and Greets and Open Houses.

He was a very special father, grandpa and friend with a positive attitude who will be deeply missed by all who were luckey enough to know him.
