Irene J. (Poulin) Monfils

Leominster - Irene J. (Poulin) Monfils, 97, of Leominster, died July 19, 2018, in HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, surrounded by her loving and caring family.   Irene was born July 19, 1921, in Leominster, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Brisson) Poulin.  She worked as a stitcher at the former R & M Mfg. Co. of Leominster.  She was a fantastic mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane M. Gagne of Leominster and Susan M. Mitchell and her husband Peter of Rindge, NH; one brother, Ernest Poulin of Leominster; two sisters, Pauline Lanciani and her husband James of Leominster, and Lorraine Paquette of Fitchburg; her grandchildren, David Gagne and his partner Dawn of Fitchburg;  Daniel Gagne and his wife Jennifer and their children, Patrick Edward, Jack, and Finn, of Alpharetta, GA; Steven Gagne and his wife Katherine and their children,  Andrew and Rose Gagne, of Westhampton;  Kenneth Gagne of Arlington;  Peter Mitchell Jr. and his fiancee Ashley Potts of Westminster and their son, Caleb Mitchell; Michael Mitchell and his wife Jennifer; and Jamie and Michelle Monfils; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred L. Monfils, who died in 1985; her son, James L. Monfils, in 1986; her son-in-law, Edward F. Gagne, in 2016; four brothers, Francis, Leo, Camille and Roger Poulin; five sisters, Theresa Crochetiere, Yvonne Auger, Eva Jackson, Jeannette Poulin and Blanche Greeley.

Irene's Funeral will be held Monday, July 30, 2018, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union Street, Leominster.  Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.
