Leominster - James A. Russo, Sr., 91, of Leominster, died May 20, 2018, surrounded by his family, in Vibra Hospital, Leicester, MA, after an illness. He was born in Chelmsford, MA, November 7, 1926, son of Vincenzo and Anna (Esposito) Russo. Mr. Russo worked as a barber for 40 years, at the former Fort Devens Base. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy from 1944 thru 1946, attaining rank of Seaman, First Class. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Medal. He was a member of Leominster Senior Center, and enjoyed playing pool, cards and Bingo.
He is survived by two sons; Vincent Russo and his wife Theresa of Washington, James Russo Jr. and his wife Kelly of Leominster, two daughters; Karen Cochran and her husband Chuck of Leominster and Debra Gagne and her husband Lee of Leominster, along with 7 grandchildren; James Gagne, Melanie Gagne, Raquel Russo, Tony Russo, Nicholas Cochran, Kiley LeBlanc, Robert Issy Massallo and 9 great grandchildren; Valentino Russo, Gianni Russo, Anthony Maxey, Carmen Maxey, Tara Massallo, Palden Massallo, Dylan Gravelle, James Gravelle, and Braiden Gagne,
Mr. Russo's Funeral will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., in St. Anna's Church, 199 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
