Laura "Flora" M. (Richard) Leger

Leominster - Laura "Flora" Leger, formerly of Leominster, passed away peacefully at the Teresian House Center for the Elderly in Albany, NY, on May 9, 2018 at the age of 88.  Born June 3, 1929, on her family's farm in Saint-Ignace, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the 11th child of 20 (yes, 20) of Joseph Francois and Marie Madeleine (Gallant) Richard.

Flora was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and sang in St. Cecilia's Church Choir.  She loved to knit, sew, garden, make poutines and tourtieres at Christmas, and bake - her bird's nest cookies were an often requested specialty of hers.

She leaves her son Denis Leger and his husband Marc Jacobs, her daughter Joanne Corliss and her husband Dan, her grandson Steven Corliss and his  wife Marissa, and her grandson Kevin Corliss.  She also leaves her siblings Francois, Laurie, Emerie, Rose-Mai, Eugenie, Yolande and Paul-Emile, as well as numerous sisters and brothers in-law and over 90 nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of 21 years, Ulysse Leger, and her siblings; Irenee, Camille, Wilfred, Emilie, Edmond, Zelia, Gemma, Gerard, Aurelia, Bertha, Alexina and Yvon.

Her family sends their most sincere gratitude to the staff of the Teresian House for their exceptional care and love they gave to Flora.

Flora's Funeral will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster.  Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 16th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made "In Memory of Laura Leger" to either, The Alzheimers Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205 or to, The Teresian Home, 200 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, NY 12203.
