Leominster - Marlton E. Twichell Jr., 91, of Leominster passed away peacefully Sunday, April 8th, 2018, at Manor on the Hill, Leominster, MA, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Pepperell on April 2, 1927, the son of Marlton E. and Hannah (McGrath) Twichell. He enlisted in the Navy prior to his graduation from Pepperell High School and proudly served his country as a Munitions Technician serving in the South Pacific Theatre. Earle worked at Foster Grant for 30 years before retiring to Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, gardening, family trips to Hampton Beach, dancing, and playing cards with friends and family. Earle was proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed his trip to Ireland with his wife, Millie.
Earle was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mildred (Bunnell) Twichell, his brothers Bernard and Gordon Twichell, and his sisters Mildred Tumpney and Evelyn Moore.
He leaves his son, Michael E. Twichell of New Bern, NC; a daughter, Maureen Viau, and her husband, Chris, of Mashpee, MA; a son Mark R. Twichell, and his wife Kathy, of Falmouth, MA; and a daughter, Maryann Chevalier, and her husband, John, of Leominster, MA. He also leaves five grandchildren: Michael J. Twichell and his wife, Karen, of Vanceboro, NC; Sarah Twichell Davis and her husband, Christopher Davis, of Oriental, NC; Jessica Viau of Charlton, MA, Allison Radler and her husband, Jacob, of N. Attleboro, MA; and Kaitlin Twichell and her fiancee, Matthew Bundy, of Gardner, MA; and two great-grandchildren, Parker and Jackson Twichell of Vanceboro, NC, and many nieces and nephews.
On behalf of the family, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Manor on the Hill, including Earle's "Cadillac Girls", Jeanne Cuskey of VA Healthcare, French Connection Home Health Care; and Brookhaven Hospice for their loving care and support of Earle.
Earle's Funeral will be held Thursday, April 12th, 2018, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main St., Leominster, at 11:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 12th, from 9:00 - 10:30 am, in the funeral home, prior to the Mass.
