Leominster - Raymond R. LaFrance, 93, of Leominster, died April 21, 2018, in HealthAlliance Hospital Leominster. He was born December 12, 1924, in Leominster, son of the late Donat and Alice (Maxfield) LaFrance. Mr. LaFrance was a high school graduate and also a graduate of Worcester Technical Trade School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a combat engineer with Company B 49th Engineer Combat Battalion, attaining the rank of PFC. He was in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He served with the VII Corp., 1st Army Division during WWII in Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead.
Raymond worked as a draftsman for 41 years, at Banner Mold Co., Leominster. He was a member of Holy Family of Nazareth Parish of Leominster, Veterans of Foreign War and a former member of Leominster Knights of Columbus #406.
He is suvived by his son, Edward LaFrance of Leominster, his daughter, Michele DiPaolo of Fitchburg, along with three grandchildren; Sherri Robes, Tanya DiPaolo, and Gina DiPaolo, and three great grandchildren; Drew DiPaolo, Jared Terrio, and Azrielyah Robes.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife Vivian E. (Paulavedus) LaFrance, in 2008, his son Richard LaFrance in 2012.
All services are private, at the convenience of the family. Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster, is directing arrangements.
Raymond was a quiet man with a quiet strength.
