Leominster- Roger A. Champagne, 89, of Leominster, died November 5, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born June 25, 1929 in Fall River, Ma, son of the late Alfred and Dianna Champagne. Roger is survived by his wife of 64 years, Yvonne (Lemay) Champagne of Leominster; three daughters- Joanne Faucher and her husband Ray of Greenville, NH, Helen Tisdale of Leominster, Lisa Champagne and her significant other Glenn Durand of Fitchburg, and his one son Joseph Champagne and his wife Heidi of Lunenburg; sons in law Brian Tisdale and Joseph Brideau, and his one remaining sister, Jeannette Leblanc (98 years old) of Leominster. He is also survived by his fourteen beloved grandchildren; his angel on Earth Rebecca, Caitlyn, Emily, Annalisa, Luke, LeeAnn, Jonathan, Michael, Dan, Tim, Jake, Tyler, Savanna, Sierra; and four great grandchildren, Joey, James, Grace, and Aubrey.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor at Foster Grant Co., for 42 years, retiring in 1989. Roger was a faithful member of St. Cecilia’s Parish, Leominster Knights of Columbus #406, and the Sacred Heart League of St. Cecilia’s Parish. Roger proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he attained the rank of Corporal. He loved to travel, was an avid gardener, and was a lover of animals, leaving behind his sweet little dog Lilly. He was a devoted and committed family man and very generous and kind to all his family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his physician Dr. Hryniewich for his devoted care over the years, especially his recent home visit; and to Beacon Hospice and Worcester Home Care for everyone who supported and cared for him and his family.
Roger’s funeral will be held from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, with a Christian Burial Mass at St. Cecilia’s Church, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster, on Friday November 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held Thursday, November 8, 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
