Leominster - William A Corkran of Leominster, MA passed away peacefully Thursday morning, October 25, 2018 at Fitchburg HealthCare in Fitchburg, MA.
Bill was born in Federalsburg, MD on August 6, 1934 to Raymond Sr and Kathleen (Waldis) Corkran. He was a 1952 graduate of Hurlock High School in Maryland. He served honorably for 3 years in the US Army during the Korean War, as part of the US Army Security Agency (ASA), as a Specialist Third Class. Upon completing his tour in Korea, he married Marion Lolli of Leominster, MA in 1958. As a 1960 graduate of East Coast Aero Technical School in Lexington, MA, Bill worked as an airplane mechanic at Pan American Airlines in NYC. In 1961, he moved to Leominster MA where he worked in the Plastics Industry for the next 45 years.
Bill was an avid golfer, an amazing gardener, a connoisseur of ice cream, a master chef of pancakes and a passionate fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Colts/Ravens. He was a member of the American Legion in Leominster. Bill (“Pop Pop”) especially loved spending time with his grandkids; Ani and Brooks. He delighted in reading to them, laughing with them and taking them for tractor rides.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion, his daughter Theresa (Terri) of Auburn, ME, his son Ken and wife Erin of Northbridge, MA, grandchildren Annika and Brooks, brother Richard Corkran and wife Maryann of Ellicott City, MD, 18 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leominster Veterans Memorial Circle, 100 West St, Leominster, MA 01453.
Bill's Funeral will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 199 Lancaster St., Leominster. Calling hours will be held Monday, Oct. 29th, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA.
