William McGuinness Obituary

Leominster - William (Bill) D. McGuinness, 85, of Leominster, died December 19, 2020, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after a brief illness due to COVID-19. He was born June 24, 1935, in Leominster, MA, son of the late Daniel F. and Mary (McDonald) McGuinness.  Growing up, he was lovingly known to his sir family as “Danny”.  Bill was a High School Graduate, who went on to serve in the US Army as a cook.  He worked as a machine operator for Norton Co. of Worcester.  After his retirement, Bill owned his own Handyman Business for 20 years. Bill was a member of the North Leominster Rod and Gun Club and was a Lifetime Member of The Amateur Trapshooting Association of America.

Although he suffered from dementia, he was always happy, never complained, and joked about how he couldn’t remember anything.  In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, trap shooting, and going to Hampton Beach.  His hobbies included caning chairs, tying fishing flies, riding dirt bikes, and spending time with his family.

William is survived by his wife of 19 years; Marilyn (Hartnett) McGuinness of Leominster, one son; William (Bill) D. McGuinness II and his wife Jennifer of Shirley, one daughter; Michelle Spirlet of Leominster, his grandchildren; Clay Gensel, Violet Gensel, Cori Rocheleau, Sarah Rossignol and great grandchildren Billie Mansfield, Kamrin Aziz and Jace Rossignol, and one sister Mary Cormier and her husband Al of Leominster, and nieces and nephews; David Cormier, Mark Cormier, Lynn Cormier, Lisa Plourde.

He was predeceased by his first wife of 31 years, Beverly 'Betty' (Burke) McGuinness, who died in 2001 and one brother Mark McGuinness.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of HealthAlliance Leominster and the Staff at The Manor of the Hill of Leominster for all their support and compassion.
