Daniel Markles Obituary

Fitchburg - A dear, sweet soul was called home on Thursday, January 26^th with the passing of Daniel Emery Markles, 69. The son of Orville, Jr. and Elloa (Douglas) Markles, Dan was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and permanently moved east in the 1980s.

Having been blessed with a beautiful speaking and singing voice, Dan was a member of many church choirs and chorale groups both in California and the Worcester area. He performed in a number of Theatre At The Mount productions, including “1776” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. For two decades, he was the voice on the phone at Expert Pest Control where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Leominster and helped for many years with the monthly potluck dinners and holiday meals. He greatly enjoyed sitting for hours at his computer working on genealogy and can trace his family back many centuries! Loved his cartoons, anime, and sports. He was a lifelong Dodgers fan, but rooted for New England teams, too. Relaxing meant a day walking along Hampton Beach with his wife Ellen and lunch at the Sea Ketch.

Always smiling, always loving, Dan will be greatly missed by his wife Ellen (Byrne, LeBlanc), of Fitchburg; and his son Emery, his wife Heather, and their 2 children Chase & Lydia, all of Watertown. He also leaves his sister Dona, her husband Glenn, and their sons Chris & Andrew, all of Springfield, VA. Dan and Ellen always remained close with Dan’s ex-wife Jennifer Williams, her husband Jeff, and their son Gordon, all of Hubbardston. Many cousins and dear friends mourn his loss, as well. He was predeceased by his parents and beloved brother Doug.

There are no calling hours, and a memorial service will be held at the discretion of the family. Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choosing or to the Gander Brook Christian Camp, 36 Oakwood Circle, Milford, NH 03055. Or maybe you just want to do something kind and thoughtful for someone else, as was Dan’s way.
