Leominster - Darlene Spencer, 63, of Leominster, passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2021, after a long and courageous battle at Leominster Hospital.
Darlene was born on February 22, 1958 to Helen Mitchem (nee Watters) and Henry Rossi, in Providence, Rhode Island. Darlene spent much of her childhood traveling the country and world, living on different military bases. She enjoyed going to the beach with her mother and spending time on her brother's boat, sailing the ocean. She eventually settled in Shirley, MA with her mother, graduating from Ayer Junior-High School in 1977. Darlene earned an Associates Degree in Busines from Fisher College in 1981. Darlene worked as a cafeteria baker in both Leominster and Fitchburg public schools for 30 years.
Darlene is survived by her companion Robert Allen; her two sons, Daniel Spencer and Nathan Spencer and his wife Megan, all residents of Leominster, along with her two grandchildren, Daniel Jr. and Amelia.
Darlene's greatest accomplishment was raising her two sons, along with spoiling her two grandchildren. She loved taking day trips to the beach, traveling to the White Mountains and visiting Washington, DC. She was an avid and accomplished photographer and painter, who won many awards through Fitchburg Camera Club and the Leominster Art Association. Her hobbies included crafting, gardening and researching her family history. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Calling hours for Darlene will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, MA.
