Denis J Roy

Denis J. Roy, 94, of Framingham, MA, died November 10, 2023, in Casa De Ramana Nursing Home, Framingham, MA. He was born July 21, 1929, in Moncton, NB, Canada, son of the late Alban and Gertrude (Belliveau) Roy. Denis received certification from Bay State School of Appliance and worked as an appliance repairman for many years before becoming a machinist at Foster Grant Co., Leominster, where he retired from after 28 years.

Anyone who knew Denis, knew him as a quiet, wise, and religious man who loved and adored his family. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop building and fixing things, and also enjoyed tending to the large vegetable garden he had at his home in Ashby, MA. He was a simple man who always drank a cup of tea after breakfast and dinner and could be found in the pantry sneaking a few ginger snaps before going to bed. He loved spending time with his grandchildren Jennifer and George, often taking them fishing when they were young. He never missed a birthday, holiday, or celebration for his grandchildren and was a constant support and positive role model in their lives. He adored his god-daughter Elizabeth Sarao, and always beamed with pride when talking about all her accomplishments.

In the most recent years, Denis could be found at the baseball field, watching his great-grandson, Kayden play baseball, or in the stands watching his great-granddaughter play basketball. While at home, he enjoyed working on puzzles with his great-grandchildren Kayden, Karmela, Georgie, and Jack and loved sitting on the couch with his two dogs Kobe and Koko, while watching Red Sox games. Denis had a kind and gentle soul and the strength, love, and joy he brought to his family will be cherished and passed down for generations to come.

Denis is survived by his granddaughter and caregiver, Jennifer Rutland and her husband Kenya of Framingham, MA and their children Briana, Kaleb, Kayden, and Karmela. His son-in-law George Jones; his grandson George Jones and his partner Kimberly Grabau and their children Anthony, Georgie, and Jack, all of Framingham, MA. His sons; Thomas D. Roy and his wife Lisa, and Mathew Bergin, his grandchildren; Michael Roy and Jonathan Roy, and 4 great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Bernetta "Bernie" (Cobb) Roy, his second wife, Nancy (Brunell) Pandiscio Roy, four brothers; Ovila Roy, Zoel Roy, Edgar Roy, Ernest Roy, two sisters; Edna LeBlanc and Rita LeBlanc, and his daughter, Judith (Pandiscio) Jones.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 27, 2023, at 11:00 am in St. Cecilia's Church, 168 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA.  Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster.  There are no calling hours.
