Leominster - Eleanora "Skip" B. (Capone) Bissonnette, formerly of 32 Clark St., Leominster, MA, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home, on March 14, 2024, at the age of 106. Born in Fitchburg on July 23rd 1917, to James and Louise (Lambert) Capone of Fitchburg, she was the third oldest of seven children, and the oldest resident of Leominster at the time of per passing (2nd overall in the city).
Though an injury at age 19 left her with half a lung, she lived a full active life. She worked at Lunenburg Schools, Onyx Catering, W.T. Grant, housekeeping and in manufacturing; volunteered at HealthAlliance Hospital, Senior Center (honorary board member, Council on Aging), voting polls, and food banks; member of the Ground Observer Corp (aircraft spotter) in WWII, Emblem Club, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 151, and singing groups; The LGB's, Madlynairs, St. Leo's Chorus, Unicords and the Chordelles. She had a love for birds, fishing, arm wrestling and playing cards (Rummy). Her hobbies included dancing, gardening, cooking, watching soap operas and Avon. She also enjoyed her trips to Montreal and Quebec City, Canada and the Shrine of Punta de Maria.
Including her parents, she is predeceased by her step-mother; Bernadette Capone, husband; Raymond L. Bissonnette, sisters; Althea V. (Raymond) (Joseph) Gallant, Lena (Lawrence) Brooks, Tina (Paul) Sassaville, Ester C. (Richard) DeCarolis, brothers; James (Jeanette) Capone, Francis W.R. (Helen) Capone and niece Louise M. Read.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (David) Henderson, son, Raymond Bissonnette, granddaughter, Amanda (Robert) Henderson, all of Leominster, granddaughter, Christina (Jeffery) Chamberlin of Vermont, grandson, Ray Bissonnette, granddaughter, Mignon (Jamie) Bissonnette, of Florida, sister-in-law, Jeanette Capone of Athol, plus many nieces (great), nephews (great) and cousins.
Eleanora's funeral will be held Saturday, April 6th, 2024, from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, prior to the funeral mass. Following burial a coalation will be held at Il Forno's Restaurant, 494 Electric Ave., Lunenburg, MA.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Eleanora's memory may be made to the American Lung Association or Special Olympics.
