George J. Maldonis Sr.

Leominster - George J. Maldonis Sr., 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital.

 He was born December 10th, 1930, in Newark, NJ and moved to Leominster in 1934.  George served his country proudly in the US Army in the early 1950's  He also taught and practiced Judo for more than 35 years and held the Title of New England Champ back in the 1960's.  George worked for 38 years at PJ Keating as a cement truck driver and eventually his length of service enabled him to be No. 1 in seniority and head of the Local Teamster Union.  George enjoyed spending time with his family, late night snacks and watching old movies.  He loved traveling with his wife and close friends.

George was the loving husband of Rita (Camuti) Maldonis, for 62 years, as they resided in Leominster for most of their marriage.  Along with his wife he is survived by his sons, George Maldonis Jr., and his wife Gretchen,  their daughters; Krystal and Josie Maldonis of Sterling, MA, and the eldest grandchild, Tiara (Maldonis) Witt of Kansas City, MO,  his son Mark Maldonis and his wife Lisa, of Alabama,  their three sons; Mason, Wyatt and Hunter Maldonis, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by an older sister, Stella Grenier of Sterling, MA.

George's Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 4th, 2022 at 12:00 noon in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, MA . Burial with Military Honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, MA.
