Leominster - George P. McNamara, 65, of Leominster, passed away February 22, 2024, at Rose Monahan Hospice Home.
He was born March 29, 1958, in Clinton, MA, son of Stella (Litterio) McNamara and the late George Patrick McNamara. George was a graduate of Clinton High School. He received an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology from Worcester Junior College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Lesley College. George had worked in the IT Department of Digital Equipment Corporation for many years, after which time he worked at UMass Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and St. Leo's Church in Leominster.
George met the love of his life Carol at the Rendezvous Disco in Worcester in 1979 and kept dancing through life with her, through the challenges of life, and the joys of life. George loved seeing concerts and it was widely known that he saw over three hundred live shows, with the rock band KISS being his favorite.
George is survived by his wife Carol (Scaramuzzi) McNamara of Leominster, one brother; Brian J. McNamara and his wife Cindy Doucette of Worcester, his sister-in-law; Diane Grubis and her husband John of Colorado, nephews; James McNamara and his wife Emily and niece Jillian McNamara, a great nephew; Jonah McNamara.
George's funeral will be held from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster, MA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 2nd, in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 1st from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Leo's Parish.
