Leominster - Jane Marie Maguire, 76, of Leominster, died June 5, 2023, in HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, after a brief illness. She was born on June 23, 1946, in Leominster, the daughter of the late Paul J. and Alice J. (Marquis) Maguire.
She began her impressive educational career as an English teacher at the junior high level before she ultimately became the head of the English department and then Assistant Principal of Leominster High School. She was a member of St. Leo's Parish, a volunteer at Leominster Public Library, an art appreciation teacher for the Alpha Adult Education Program at Fitchburg State College, and a docent at the Worcester Art Museum where she gave many a tour. Creativity was her passion, and she loved traveling extensively in its pursuit, most especially to Paris for the art, to England to investigate Shakespeare, and to New York City to catch an opera or a Broadway show. It would not be surprising to see her return home armed with a plethora of new books. She was a long time summer resident of Cape Cod where she could often be found reading her days away on the beach or in the cherished enclosed back porch of her little cottage. She adored her cats, Minnie and Franny, and always fondly remembered her sweet pups, Foxy and Gus.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters Sharon Maguire-Price in 2019 and Judith Maguire in 2016.
She is survived by her niece, Lindsey Price (Mike) of East Longmeadow, MA, and her pride and joy, her two great-nephews, Ryan and Jackson Huse. She was beloved and will be dearly missed by her large and very close circle of long time friends.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Brady’s, 37 Mechanic Street, Leominster, from 11:30 am-3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Leominster Public Library.
