Joel R. Hurwitz

Joel R. Hurwitz passed away peacefully at Sterling Village on July 27, 2023 with family by his side after a period of declining health. 

He was born on September 16, 1948, in Lynn, MA. After moving to Leominster at a young age he remained a life long resident. Joel attended Leominster schools and graduated from Leominster High School Class of 1966. He attended classes at Mount Wachusett Community College, and Fitchburg State University. Over the years he enjoyed hiking, canoeing, fishing, listening to music, tennis, puttering around his home, relaxing on his deck, and being a "Jack of all trades". 

Joel is survived by his wife and longtime friend Patricia (Comaskey) Hurwitz. Their children Ethan of Leominster, and Dana Roy and her husband Benjamin and their son Theodore (Teddy) of Leominster. He also leaves a daughter from a previous marriage, Maya Sumner and her husband Brock, and their two children of Ashnurnham. A brother Jerold (Jerry) of Leominster. Many sister and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was predeceased by his parents Sidney and Mary (Goldberg) Hurwitz. 

Services will be private at the request of the family.
