Joseph Fraticelli Sr. Obituary

Joseph N. Fraticelli, 92, passed away peacefully at home, on November 1, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born in Leominster on September 22, 1930, a son of the late Lorenzo and Jennie (Micciantuono) Fraticelli of San Giovanni, Foggia, Italy and Leominster, MA.

 

He was a 1948 graduate of Leominster High School. He earned an associate degree in accounting from Becker Junior College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Fitchburg State University.

 

In 1951 he was drafted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War.

His tour of duty included serving in the 50th U.S. Army marching and concert band at Fort Monroe, Virginia.

 

He worked for the Town of Lunenburg as a teacher at Lunenburg High School.

After retiring from teaching, he became a Certified Public Accountant and focused on the accounting practice he had started back in 1965.

 

After retiring from his practice, he and his wife Kathy, whom he affectionately referred to as “Lovey” traveled extensively in their motor home, and eventually settled in Florida. After many years in Florida they moved back to Leominster in 2016 when Kathy became ill.

 

Joseph’s passion in life was music. He was an established musician. He played with the Frankie Dee Orchestra and several other well-known groups. He enjoyed playing with the Italian Colonial Band, alongside his Father, for many years. In 1970 he started the Group 70 Orchestra and was band leader for 17 years.

 

Joseph was a member of the Foggia Society and served as president for two years. He also was a member of the Italian Cultural Society, the Sons of Italy, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Fraticelli in 2018. He is survived by his son Joseph Fraticelli, Jr. and his wife Darlene from Leominster, his son John Fraticelli and his wife Gina of Maine, his daughter Dawn Sneade and her husband Richard of North Grafton. Brothers Lawrence (Dick) Fraticelli, Thomas Fraticelli, and his wife MaryAnn, all of Leominster. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services are private at the convenience of the family.  Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, MA is directing arrangements.
