Leo R. Landry, age 87, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, formerly of Leominster, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, February 23rd. He was born in Fitchburg, MA in February of 1934 to the late Arthur Landry and the late Sarah Leblanc Landry. Leo graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1952, then joined the United States Navy. He worked in the Tool and Die industry as a mold maker and machinist. He was a member of Holy Family of Nazareth Church in Leominster, MA. He most recently attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Leo was a fantastic wood worker and wood carver. He carved countless animals, canes, wagons, etc. He made lots of furniture for family and friends and toys for his grandchildren. He was an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. He loved to play cards—especially “pay the man.”
Leo is survived by his wife of 66 years, Della R. Houle Landry; children: Debra Landry and her wife, Debbie Melahn, Steven Landry and his wife, Deborah, and David Landry and his wife, Emily; grandchildren: Alana Landry and Joshua Landry; sister and brother-in-law: Lorraine and Leo Forget; brother and sister-in-law: Paul and Sandy Landry; sister-in-law: Betty Ann Houle; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, February 27th at 11:00 AM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Georgia. In accordance with his wishes, Leo will be cremated following his funeral mass. His cremated remains will be interred in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, Massachusetts at a later date through Wright-Roy Funeral Home of Leominster, Mass.
