Obituary
Leo J. F. Mitchell Jr. of Leominster, MA (78) passed away on March 23, 2023, after a brief illness.
He was born in Fitchburg on September 17, 1944, a son of the late Phyllis (Carrion) and Leo J.F. Mitchell. He grew up in Fitchburg, graduating from Fitchburg High School before joining the U. S. Army and serving with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Following the death of his first wife Cynthia (Duval) in 1989, Leo met Jeanne Carignan at widowers’ group and the two enjoyed 30 years together traveling and spending time with friends and family. Leo enjoyed movies and football, and his sweet tooth was legendary.
In addition to his wife Jeanne, he is survived by his brother Gerald and wife Ruth of Vacaville, CA and brother Ronald of Gardner, MA, his son Leo J.F. Mitchell III and wife Deanna of Sunset, UT, daughter Tracy Thomas and husband Mark of Chester, VA, his step-son Scott and wife Nijole of Hubbardston, step-son Marc and wife Julie of Rindge, NH, step-daughter-in-law Erin of Westminster, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Judith Miles.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm with a memorial service immediately following the calling hours from 5pm to 6pm at Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster.
