Leominster - Lydia E. (Cheries) LaLiberty, 98, of Leominster, MA, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in the home she shared with her son and his wife. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Irene (Simone) Cheries and a faithful and loving wife to the late Joseph Z. LaLiberty.
She leaves her three sons to whom she was a loving and proud mother: David, Roger and his wife Linda, Barry and his wife Donna. She also leaves her sister: Fay Dauphinais of California, her six grandchildren: Jeffrey, Laura, Tina Schad, Cara and Andrea, as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband of 66 years, Lydia was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Anne, her brothers: Frank, Mike and Dan and sisters: Mary, Anna, Esther and Rose.
Lydia was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Her quiet relationship with God carried her through all that life would bring her. She enjoyed the warmth of the sun and the comfort pets and flowers gave her. Her quick wit and unusual sense of humor was her trademark, especially her unforgettable, humorous comments including "just give me some whiskey and the black pill."
All who knew her will miss her presence.
The family would like to say thank you to the following: UMass Memorial Health Alliance Home Health and Hospice and the people helping with her care and comfort: Erin, Donna and Tiffany; Montachusett Home Health Care/Catholic Charities and her long time home health aides: Annette and Amy; her NP from the Reliant Home Run program, Lauri; and to those who spent quality time with her: Paula, Olivia and Jean.
Her funeral will be held, Thursday, April 15, 2021, in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street, Leominster. A calling hour will be held from 9:00- 10:00 AM in the church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
