Michael Lally Obituary

Michael T. Lally, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on October 25, 2024, in Sterling Village, MA. Born on February 17, 1936, in Waltham, Massachusetts. Michael lived a life rich in love, dedication, and achievement. 

Michael's journeys are marked by a series of remarkable milestones. His 66 year marriage to his cherished wife Katherine was a testament to the enduring power of love and companionship. Together, they explored the world, sharing adventures that forged unforgettable memories and deepened their bond. Family was of the utmost importance to Michael, and he delighted in the company of his daughter, sons, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, regaling them with stories of the past and engaging in conversations about current events. His enthusiasm for sharing knowledge which was evident in his extensive discussions on the construction of the Egyptian pyramids, a topic on which he penned a thesis, which was published in the Journal of American Research Center in Egypt. Michael was also an avid tennis player, and fisherman. 

A proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp and the Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International. Michael's work ethic was unwavering. He imparted his dedication and skills to various community projects, most notable was his volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, alongside Katherine. Their efforts contributed to building a more caring supportive community. 

Michael was a man who always gave 100% to whatever he undertook. His commitment to excellence was evident in the beautiful home he and Katherine built in Eastham, Cape Cod. Constructed with a few bricklayer friends, his son Michael, and a carpenter, this home stood as a testament to his passion for craftsmanship and his love for this family. 

Though predeceased by his mother Kathryn (Hickey) Lally, father John Lally, his siter Patricia Mahoney, his brother Raymond Lally, and his son Michael, he found enduring  strength an joy in the lives of his wife Katherine F. (Marino) Lally, daughter, Andrea N. Belcastro and her husband Thomas of Leominster, MA., his son Peter Lally of Brockton, MA, his grandchildren Victoria K. Belcastro, Kevin C. Lally, a great-grandson Kaiden Lally, his sisters Jacqueline Sears of Concord, MA, Judith Sarto , and her husband George of Dennis, MA., Mary Abeyta of Arizona, his brother John Lally and his wife Patricia of Brockton, MA., and his nieces and nephews  Richard, Brian, Pamela, Debbie, Jack, Michael, Mari, EJ, Paul, Matthew, Michael, Maureen, Mary Jean, Jacqueline, Gingie, Steohen, Michael, Kevin, and Karen. 

His legacy of warmth, devotion, and perseverance lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. We take solace in the promise of John 5:24:"Very truly I tell you, whomever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. " Michaels contributions to family and community will forever be remembered.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00 am in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the Chapel 111 Glenallen Street Winchendon, followed by Military Honors being rendered.
