Mildred E. (Murnane) Cabana

Leominster - Mildred E. (Murnane) Rheault  Cabana, 90, formerly of Springfield, MA, lived with her family for the past 5.5 years.  Mildred passed away peacefully at home on January 9, 2022.  Mildred was born an only child to Timothy and Pearl (Warner) Murnane in Waterbury, CT on February 17, 1931.

Her early years of education were in Waterbury, CT at Notre Dame Academy and Crosby High School. Mildred's advanced education began at Trinity College in D.C., for one year then transferred to Fitchburg State College where she graduated with a B.S.E. degree in 1952.  She later pursued advanced studies in  France, and earned a M.S.E. degree from Westfield State College.  Mildred used her degree to pursue her passion and become a teacher of mathematics and later a guidance counselor in the Springfield School District.  She retired from the Springfield School system in 1993 after 37 years in education.  She loved education and believed that every child deserved to be educated.

Millie was very active in her community.  She regularly attended church at Saint Catherine of Sienna, a participant in the Women's Guild and an Altar Lector.  She loved playing contract bridge, having achieved life master status and later partnered with her husband Robert.  She is preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Cabana.  Mildred is survived by her three children, Kathryn Crowley and her husband John of Leominster, Susan Kennedy of Fitchburg and Martin Rheault and his wife Joan of Wilbraham.  She leaves behind seven grandchildren; Meghan, Jillian, Katelyn, Lindsey, Timothy, Brandon and Kristin and six great-grandchildren.

Her family wishes to thank the in-home workers for the care and kindness shown to Mildred during her declining years.

There are no calling hours.  A private graveside service will be held at the family's discretion.

Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster, is entrusted with her interment.
