Norman Garneau Jr. Obituary

Leominster -  Norman Maurice Garneau, Jr. passed away on November 18, 2021 at the age of 63 after a short illness.

Born on June 27, 1958, Norman was the 4th of 9 children born to Rita and Norman Garneau of Leominster. He was a graduate of St. Cecilia’s elementary school in Leominster and St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg.

Norman inherited a natural ear and musical ability from both the Garneau and Brassard families. He was a talented guitarist and always enjoyed playing and singing with his family. During his high school years, he led the folk group at St. Camillus church, mentoring other young musicians and earning dear and lasting friends in the process.

In his adult life, he became a CNC Programmer in the Tool & Die industry, following in the footsteps of his father. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Miami Dolphins and Boston Bruins fan. He was a loving father, grandfather, sibling, and friend.

Norman leaves behind his son Andrew Garneau and his partner Mondrian Shumate, of Belfast Maine; his grandchildren Brandon, Lydia, Corrine, Connor, Janea, and Bruna, and one more baby on the way. He also leaves behind his beloved companion, Maria De Leon and her family of Leominster.

Norman is survived by his siblings, Judy Garneau of Florida, Debbie Richard and her husband Ray of Leominster, Beth Favini and her husband Rob of Fitchburg, John Garneau and his wife Nanci of Pembroke, and Mary Carter and her husband Joe of Clinton, an honorary sister, Julie Pion of Florida, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Norman was predeceased by two sons, Nicholas and Jason, by his parents, Norman and Rita Garneau, and his sisters Carol, Barbara, and Bernadette.

Services will be held on November 29, 2021, with a calling hour 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West Street in Leominster, MA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Church, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA.  Burial will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery.
