Patricia M (Madden) Fitzgerald

Patricia M. Fitzgerald, 83, of Leominster and Chatham MA., died Monday, October 9, 2023 surrounded by family after a long illness. 

Patricia was born on August 18, 1940 in Mt.  Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, MA., the daughter of the late John W. Madden and Doris (Fraser) Madden and the oldest of four children whom she loved and was loved by, dearly. 

She was a graduate of Arlington High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Regis College, Weston, MA in 1962.

She met and married the love of her life, Robert E. Fitzgerald, Jr., and relocated to Leominster, MA in 1966 where she and Robert settled and raised five children.  

Patricia was a devoted teacher and volunteer at the local Catholic and public schools. She led a life of Christian service volunteering at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church and the Beacon of Hope. 

She is predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents John and Doris and her brother John.  

Patricia is survived by her children, Robert Fitzgerald (Michelle Drury), John Fitzgerald (Sheila Clark), Ellen Fitzgerald Enoch (Daniel Enoch), Julie Fitzgerald Bigelow (James Bigelow), Jane Fitzgerald (Kyle Van Orden), fourteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her younger brother Gerald Madden and sister Claire McHugh of Chatham, MA. 

Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, October 12th from 5:00-7:00 pm in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc. 109 West Street, Leominster, MA. 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 13th at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union Street, Leominster, MA.

In lieu of flowers or charitable donations the family requests that all who knew her donate blood to alleviate the ongoing national blood shortage.
