Patrick F. Delaney Jr.

Patrick F. Delaney Jr., 90 of Leominster, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Leominster Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on March 11, 1933, in Fall River, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Patrick F. Delaney Sr. of Fall River and the late Claudia LeClair of Duxbury.  He attended Coyle High School and then went to Providence College earning his degree in Biology and Chemistry.   He then earned his PHD in Biology and Biochemistry from Brown University.  Highlights of his professional career include adjunct professor at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, and Academic Dean of Students at Lindenwood College in St. Charles, MO.  He then brought his family back to Massachusetts to serve as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Fitchburg State University.

     Patrick was a member of Holy Family of Nazareth Parish in Leominster, where he was very active in the church prayer group. During his career he was a member of Rotary International and Who's Who Among American Teachers.  His favorite pastimes were playing golf, and playing slots at the casino. He also enjoyed many summers vacationing in Ogunquit, ME.  He was an avid sports fan, particularly of his New England teams - the Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox. 

Patrick is survived by his four daughters Susan M. Fackler and her husband Gregory of New Jersey, Cynthia A. Delaney of Leominster, Kathleen A. Dailey and her husband Ronald of Hendersonville, TN and Mary E. Goguen and her husband Kevin of Leominster, four grandchildren; Gregory Fackler Jr, Patrick Fackler, Christopher Wells and Michael Rice, along with eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years Patricia A. (Hanson) Delaney in 2019. 

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. in Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union Street, Leominster. There are no calling hours. After cremation, burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to: Holy Family of Nazareth Church.
