Richard Bashaw Obituary

Leominster - Richard "Dick" A. Bashaw, a lifetime resident of Leominster, MA and Bridgton, ME, passed away peacefully in his home on September 16th, 2021 following a long courageous health battle, with his beloved wife and sister by his side.

Dick ALWAYS had a zest for life.  He enjoyed snowmobiles, boating and cars.  His deepest passion was his devotion to his family and friends, but he also enjoyed working with his hands.  He loved spending time in his workshop by his wood stove designing and building beautiful furniture and many family members and friends proudly house his creations today.  He taught many young men how to change the brakes in a vehicle and did it all with humor and patience sitting in his wheelchair.

He always loved dogs, especially his current Golden Retriever "Nugget" whom he often referred to as the best dog in the universe, named "the universal dog".

Dick loved spending time in his Maine home, especially the 'Man Cave' and entertaining friends and family.  Being out on the lake brought him such joy and peace and he could never soak up enough of the sun's rays.

Dick is survived by his wife; Rose (Ouellette) Bashaw, sisters; Barbara Dupont of Bridgton, ME, Diane Kohlstrom (husband Randy Kohlstrom) of New Salem, nephews; Jason Grasso of Westminster, Thomas Lavoie (wife Isabel) of Lynnfield, David Lavoie (wife Kelley) of Leominster, Tyler Wade of Newport, RI, a niece; Cayla Wade of Boston, sisters and brothers in law; Lita and Dennis Lavoie of Leominster, Fr. Don Ouellette of East Brookfield, Cathy and Tony Wade of Leominster, loving friends Jon & Judy Friend.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Lawrence and Theresa (Champagne) Bashaw and one brother in law Michael Dupont.

Countless lives were impacted and changed because of Dick's courageous spirit!

A very special thank you for the loving support and friendship of Dr. Adam Vernadakis (Dr.V), Susan Hazel and Katie Jackson.
