Westminster - Richard E. Girardin, (“Dick”) of Westminster passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jeanne (Graboski) Girardin of Westminster; his son, Michael Girardin of St. Petersburg, Florida; his daughter, Shelby Chait and her husband Matthew of Simsbury, Connecticut, and his grandson, Logan Chait. He also leaves his sister Carol Leite and her husband George of Leominster, along with many special nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Matthew Girardin, and his sister, Sylvia Harbron and her husband Edwin of Westminster.
Richard was born in Leominster, son of the late Emile and Loretta (Tourigny) Girardin, and was a graduate of Leominster High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, attaining Boatswain's Mate as Petty Officer 3rd Class. Following honorable discharge, he entered the plastics industry for many years, and subsequently owned and operated G & S Tool and Die Co. in Leominster for 20 years.
Richard was a loving and devoted husband and father, and a very proud “Gumpy” to his grandson, Logan. His greatest joy in life was his family. In his younger years, he coached recreational league basketball and was a team coach for Pop Warner football. He was an active member of St. Cecilia's Parish and enjoyed cooking for the parish Bazaar. He was on the Board of Directors for the Gardner Senior Center and a member of the American Legion Post in Gardner. Richard was an avid pool player, having played in several leagues. He was an animal lover and liked building birdhouses. Richard enjoyed playing cards, watching football, boating, traveling, and vacationing on Cape Cod, and above all things cherished the time he spent together with his family.
Calling hours for Richard will be held on Monday, November 21st, 2022 from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM at Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Parish, 168 Mechanic Street, Leominster. Burial will follow at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Leominster.
