Richard S. Sleeper

                                MEMORIAL SERVICE INFORMATION

A Memorial Service for Mr. Sleeper will be held Saturday, June 4th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Masonic Hall, 16 Thorndike Street, Fitchburg, MA.  All are welcome!

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to: Shriners Hospitals, Leominster United Methodist Church or American Heart Association.

Leominster - Richard S. Sleeper of Leominster, formerly of Fitchburg, died April 14, 2022, after a fall.  Born in Fitchburg, December 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Wesley O. Sleeper and Florence (Oehmer) Sleeper.

Richard graduated Fitchburg High School in 1958.  He worked as a papermaker in Fitchburg 40 plus years, originally with Crocker Burbank Co.  Also, Dickie, as he was familiarly known, was a 33rd degree Mason, and a member of Grand Commandery and Knights Templar.  Mr. Sleeper was well known throughout the area, N.E. and other parts of the world, as a Noble Officiator at installation rituals and Scottish rites.  Richard had been a secretary to Grand Commandery at their Boston Temple for several years, and had been Grandmaster of the Charles W. Moore Lodge in Fitchburg for multiple terms.

Beloved by his family and many others for his easy going but expert leadership, Mr. Sleeper is survived by his brother, Thomas and sister-in-law Patricia, of Holden, and by two nieces, Dyane of Holden and Alison of Monson, and two nephews, Neill of Orange and Coleman of Maryland.

He had been an official of Faith United Parish, Fitchburg and was a Faithful congregant of Leominster United Methodist Church
