Rita Theresa (Roux) Trainque

Leominster - Rita Theresa (Roux) Trainque, Grade 3 teacher at St. Cecilia's, died on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Life Care Center of Leominster, surrounded by family.  She was 90 years old.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Jack LaFave) and Cindy, both of Leominster; her brother, Richard J. Roux of Gardner, several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond A., and her parents Alcide and Ida (Cote) Roux and her brothers, George J. and Henry J. Roux. She is survived by three sisters-in-law; Carol Trainque of Fitchburg, Lynn Roux of Gardner and Connie Roux of Leominster.

She had had several careers in her life but her "real career" as she would say many times was as a 3rd grade teacher at St. Cecilia's in Leominster from 1964 until its closure in 1977--otherwise she would still be teaching there!

She was an active member of New Life Church in Leominster where she had run the Ministry of Joy for many years, started and ran their ESL Program and attended and given many bible studies.

She had been a trained volunteer Ombudsman (Residents' Right Advocate) for several nursing homes in the Montachusett area.

Her wake will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.  The Funeral will be Saturday, August 23rd at New Life Church, 834 Main Street, Leominster at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Cecilia's Restoration Fund and sent to St. Cecilia's Parish/Restoration Fund, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA 01453.  On the Memo line, simply write, Rita Trainque.
