Roger Wilfred Goyette, Sr.
April 6, 1940 – February 15, 2025
Gardner - Roger Wilfred Goyette, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on April 6, 1940, in Brockton, Massachusetts, Roger lived a life filled with kindness, storytelling, and a touch of mischief. From 1958 to 1962, he honorably served his country as a dental technician in the United States Coast Guard. He was deeply devoted to his family and community, always offering a helping hand and a warm smile.
Roger was known for his strong work ethic and wonderful sense of humor. He had a deep love for the outdoors, which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Whether exploring the woods, camping, or fishing, he found joy in nature and cherished sharing those experiences with his loved ones. He also enjoyed spending time with friends over coffee and target shooting.
A dedicated family man, Roger took immense pride in supporting his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. He was a Boy Scout leader, an archery instructor, and an assistant coach for Leominster’s Lassie League. His craftsmanship was well-known—he lovingly built dollhouses for his daughters and rocking horses for his grandchildren. He also admired Native American artisanship, immersing himself in leatherwork, beading, and crafting dream catchers.
Roger is survived by his children and grandchildren: Jan Marie Lincoln and her sons, Thomas and William Lincoln, of Gardner, MA; Colleen Churchill, Brian Churchill and their children, Peter, Ellie, and Anna Churchill, of Attleboro, MA; and Roger W. Goyette Jr. and his daughter, Devyn Goyette, of Gardner, MA. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan Raymond of Easton, MA, and David B. Goyette of New Hampshire, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Jeanette Goyette, and his wife, Rose Marie (Yoder) Goyette.
Visiting hours to celebrate Roger’s life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 PM at Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc. 109 West Street, Leominster, MA. In honor of Roger’s signature style, friends and family are encouraged to wear flannel shirts—his favorite! A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in St. Leo’s Church, 128 Main Street, Leominster .Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery.
