Newburyport - Roger Parmenter, 88 of Newburyport, formerly of Leominster and Seminole Florida, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025. Born in Lunenburg to Charles Parmenter Sr. and Blanche Page Parmenter he was the youngest of five children. Always an entrepreneur, he owned and operated two businesses, J&P Carpet Outlet and Roger the Bargain Master. He was a proud member of the National Guard. At all times, always a great salesman. In later life, he enjoyed searching for items of worth and selling his finds at local flea markets. Taking great pride in his appearance, Roger never left the house unless he was dressed in a button down shirt, suit coat, pressed slacks and dress boots. In his many years, his children only saw him once dressed in jeans and sneakers, where they were quick to take a “snap” of that. Roger loved to fish on Spec Pond with his children, then his grandchildren and more recently at home in Newburyport. Foxwoods and Bingo were a must, not a month went by without him making a trip. He was an avid walker ( walking in dress boots of course) whether on the streets of Leominster or downtown Newburyport.
He Loved his family, his long-time partner Kim and his cat Noel, although he would never admit his love for his cat.
He will be forever missed.
Roger leaves behind his five children: Susan A. Gallien (Charles) Linda Parmenter (Ed Delisle) Glenn Parmenter (Colleen Flanagan) Shari Bresnahan (Patrick) and Donna Landry (Laurie). He is survived by his long-time companion and partner Kim Harris of Newburyport.
He also leaves seven grandchildren, Joseph Gallien, Michael Gallien, Craig Spyropoulos (Ashley) Kelsey Parmenter, Kyle Parmenter, Michael Bresnahan and Alex Landry; five great grandchildren, Cody Gallien, Devon Gallien, Roman Gallien, Matthew Beauregard and Hadley Spyropoulos.
Roger leaves behind his brother Everett Parmenter of Leominster and many nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by three siblings, Charles, Florence and Leslie.
Roger's Funeral will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West St., Leominster, MA. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Main St., Leominster. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 9th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
