Russell, the third son of Sallie and Rallie Talbert Sr., was born in Sharon, PA on June 6, 1940. He passed away peacefully at home, on Tuesday, October 17, with family by his side, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
He moved to Leominster in 1965 with a desire to create a better life for himself. It was in Leominster that Russell became a skilled unionized carpenter, helping to build the commissary on Fort Devens and the MART center in Fitchburg (retiring from the union in 1998). He later became a Security Lieutenant at Emerson Hospital in Concord, where he worked for 20 years before retiring.
Russell loved to be in service to others, and loved the Lord. He was able to align these two things through his stewardship at New Hope Community Church in Ayer, MA, joining on May 19, 1991, not long after the church was founded, and maintaining loyalty to the church over many years. Here, Russell served and became an ordained Deacon on November 17, 2013.
He had an incredible sense of style and humor, often dressed to the nines, sharing jokes with his family and friends. He enjoyed the beach, crossword puzzles and action movies, especially ones featuring Steven Seagal.
Russell loved his family, and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen M. Talbert of Leominster, his eldest daughter, Crystal C. Talbert and son Marcus A. Talbert also of Leominster, daughter Trina “Rippus” N. Talbert of Fitchburg and step - daughter, Marlene M. Boyette of Boston, his grandchildren Shaela L. Talbert-Pretlow, Brittnee L. Talbert, Terrence R. Talbert, Cheyenne M. Talbert, Avery N. Belton and a host of great grandchildren.
He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. In Lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations, in support of incurred medical and funeral expenses.
Services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, MA with calling hours from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. followed by a Service at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
