Leominster - Wilfred D. "Wil" Lamb passed away on September 23, 2023, peacefully while at Sterling Village in Sterling, MA. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret Ann "Peggy" (Schumacher) Lamb, a son; Kevin Lamb of Leominster and his friend Bonnie Jablonski, three grandchildren; Keith Lamb of Las Vegas, NV, Heidi Lamb of Fitchburg, MA and Jeffrey Lamb and his wife Joanie of Clinton, MA, along with three great grandchildren; Brianna Soares and her husband Gannon of Panama City, FL, Samantha Lamb and Elisabeth Lamb of Clinton, MA and two great-great-grandchildren; James Soares and Liam Soares of Panama City, FL and a brother; Edward J. Lamb of Waltham, MA. Wilfred was predeceased by his brother William Lamb and sister Jacqueline McGorty.
He was born May 10, 1932, son of Wilfred D. and Dorothy (Chabot) Lamb. He attended schools in Lancaster and graduated Lancaster High School in 1950. He then attended Stockbridge School at UMass and graduated in 1953 with an Associate's Degree.
Mr. Lamb worked for the United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Inspection Services as Senior Investigator for New England for 32 years. Wil was a volunteer firefighter in Lancaster for 30 years. After retirement he worked for several local security agencies in Boxboro and Hudson.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In his younger years he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball in Lancaster and also coaching Pop Warner Football. He enjoyed bowling in the Lancaster Men's League for over 30 years, playing cribbage in the Clinton Turners Cribbage League and hunting. He liked going to the "Gaz" with his son to see his friends. He was a member of the Leominster Senior Citizens Center and a parish member of St. Anna's Parish in Leominster.
Mr. Lamb's funeral will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 from Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc., 109 West Street, Leominster, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 199 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial will follow in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held Friday, Sept. 29th from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
