Yvonne Allendes Obituary

Leominster - Yvonne J. (Legassey) Allendes, of 32 Coolidge Street, Leominster, MA, loving and devoted wife of Sergio Allendes, is home in the loving arms of Jesus.  She was born June 12, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Rita (LeBlanc) Legassey. and went home to be with the Lord of August 21, 2021.  She was 86 years beautiful.  Yvonne chose a religious life after high school.  She became a nun for the Catholic Church, attended Sacred Heart College in NY and earned her degree in music.  She went into missions and traveled to Chile where she worked in the northern region of Chile as the principal of an elementary school.  There she met her soulmate and left the habit to devote her life to her husband.  Later she worked in Santiago Chile for Pan American.  She was in charge of all the cargo for the southern parts of South America.  After that she came to America and worked for Simplex using her bilingual skills (English, Spanish, Portuguese and French) for South American Marketing.  She left Simplex for Foster Grant where she continued to work in marketing until they closed.  She  completed her career at Bose Corporation until her retirement.

Her family was always remembered by her, as she never once forgot a birthday or anniversary of any of her many nieces, nephews, their spouses and their children and grandchildren.  She was an avid knitter and made countless afghans and other items over many years.  These creations from her will continue to remind us of her love for all of us while she is away.  Her family will miss her until they see each other again in heaven.

She leaves her devoted and loving husband of 51 years, Sergio, her brother Lionel Legassey and his wife Marcia of Athol, her brother, Charles Legassey and his wife Joan who reside in Pennsylvania, her husband's loving siblings and their spouses from Chile - Lilliana, Sylvia, Edith, Marybel and Miguel and their widowed sister Patricia, along with many nieces and nephews.

She will live on in the hearts of her entire family and will be so dearly missed.  Her life was a positive example to all of us, as she lived it loving all whom had the pleasure of knowing her.  She served the Lord in all she did.

In lieu of flowers or any other expression of grief it is asked that you make a monetary donation to the following people, as they held a special place in Yvonne's heart; yet another example of her love for others.  St. Joseph's Indian School, PO Box 100, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0100 or www.stjo.org/plannedgiving
